Those of you with newer laptops and PC’s may be wondering what that lightning bolt on one of your USB ports mean. This is the new high powered USB port. Traditional USB ports output about 500 milliamps, these new High Powered USB ports provide up to 1000 milliamps, or 1 Amp. There’s 3 main benefits to this. 1) Those power hungry devices that used to require 2 USB ports to power up, can now be powered off 1 single High Power USB Port. 2) If you’re device charges off a USB port, and it accepts more than 500 milliamps of power to charge, then ultimately you could charge up your device much faster using this port! 3) The high power USB is always available, you no longer have to turn on your PC/Laptop in order to charge a device through USB. Simply plug your device in the high power USB port and charge away! More information on the USB Charge Port can be found here.
